Fort Aguada is a well-preserved seventeenth-century Portuguese fort, along with a lighthouse, standing in Goa, India, on Sinquerim Beach, overlooking the Arabian Sea. It is an ASI protected Monument of National Importance in Goa.
The Aguada Fort Lighthouse erected in 1864 is the oldest of its kind in Asia. There was a large bell on the lighthouse which was found in the ruins of Saint Augustus monastery in Old Goa. Located between Mormugao peninsula and Calangute beach.
It is famous for its beach, the largest in North Goa and a popular tourist destination. The beach offers water sport activities like parasailing and water skiing, among others.
The beach contains rows of shacks and fishing boats, and at high tide the beach is narrow. The beach is named after the Baga Creek, which empties into the Arabian Sea at the north end of the beach.
One of the longest beaches in Goa, Candolim Beach is also sometimes called the gateway to the other popular beaches in the state. There are some activities like parasailing and water skiing.
